The Ultimate Lighting Guide

The Driving Lights

Driving lights are an essential modification to every four-wheel drive vehicle. These lights are mounted on top of the bull bar to assist the regular headlights by projecting high beams of white light to create greater visibility on the road and enhance drivers’ ability to react. It is especially useful for those long-haul adventures, helping to minimise driver fatigue so that your drives can be more pleasant and safe.

When it comes to searching for quality driving lights, durability and performance is something to look out for.

  • Lumens are a good indicator of performance as it correlates to the amount of light produced from the driving lights. For off-roading purposes, the optimal brightness level should be at least 5,000 lumens or above to provide clearer visual of the next stretch of road.
  • A durable driving light should be able to withstand all elements and conditions that you might face on your adventure. The IP level is an indicator of dust and water protection for your driving lights.

TJM’s Ultima 215 Driving Lights are an absolute must-have when you’re in search of good quality driving light – they have 8,500 effective lumens and withstand dust and water thanks to their IP67 rating. To save you time so that you can spend it more on the road, TJM has made it easy for you to come in store and get your lights installed by one of our professionals.

Light Bars

Light bars are a great addition to help light the way to your destination. They are designed to be more compact, so unlike the driving lights they can be mounted onto bull bars or roof racks. Their wide rectangular shape, in combination with LED lighting technology, is useful in dispersing a substantial amount of light beam onto the sides of the road, providing clearer vision of your surroundings on the road while diminishing the amount of dark spots within the driver's field of view. Light bars function in two different ways: there is the flood beam pattern (which has a widespread reach), whereas the spot beam pattern is used to illuminate the light long distances with a focused beam.

Whether you’re setting up camp, performing a recovery or getting out of dodge in the dead of night, the TJM Light Bar 24" Driving Beam has got all of your visibility needs well and truly covered.

Equipped with advanced Osram LED technology giving them the ability to produce a high output of crispy, white light, resulting in incredible brightness over long distances – some 900m at 1 Lux. But, just like 4x4 driving lights, light output is king here, and the TJM Light Bar 24" Driving Beam doesn’t disappoint. Producing an incredible 25,840 raw lumens across 38 high-powered LEDs, and even 27,360 raw lumens when the boost setting is activated, if you need a high-performing LED light bar with the power, strength and output needed to light up any pitch black setting, you’ve found it.

Camping Lights

Now, driving lights and light bars will help illuminate the way to your destination, but when you finally get there you will need some light to assist you onsite. It is always better to seek quality gear that is long-lasting and durable.

we understand that the best camping lights need to be high-quality, compact, lightweight and high-performing to suit almost any setting or camping setup.

Camping lights should also have a wider reach and long distance to make doing tasks much easier and hassle-free for you. Plus, they should have plenty of versatility and usability.

Take the TJM Torch for example. When the sun goes down in the bush, you can hardly see a thing in front of you, the last thing you want to do once you get to the camping site is to fiddle around with lighting. Offering a maximum of 1050 lumens and a beam distance of between 110-240m across 5 light modes, the TJM Torch provides you with that essential light source in seconds, and it's nimble enough to fit snugly in your pocket!

It’s also rechargeable just like the TJM Camping Lantern which provides you with an excellent handheld source of light for trips to the drop dunny or just an ambience in the tent.

Other camping lights include vehicle-mounted lights, great for keeping you hands-free with a completely illuminated campsite, and headlamps, again great for keeping your hands free, but our TJM Headlamp also comes equipped with a motion-sensor.

This allows you to position it where you want, and it’ll illuminate the area the second a camper or even wildlife happens to stroll past.
